The same question, two answers
A customer writes: "Where is my order?"
| Chatbot | AI agent on Priority | |
|---|---|---|
| What it knows | The shipping policy it was fed | This customer's order, its status and its delivery note in Priority |
| What it answers | "Deliveries arrive within 3 to 5 business days" | "Your order left yesterday on delivery note 1234" |
| When there is a problem | Points to the phone | Prepares an update for the customer and a request to the person in charge, and records it in Priority after approval |
| What is left afterwards | The conversation | A record in Priority and an audit log |
How it works
Chatbot
- "Where is my order?"
- answers fromThe shipping policy it was fed
- "Deliveries arrive within 3 to 5 business days"
- What is left afterwardsThe conversation
AI agent on Priority
- "Where is my order?"
- reads through an MCP serverThis customer's order in PriorityIts status and its delivery note
- "Your order left yesterday on delivery note 1234"
- What is left afterwardsA record in Priority and an audit log
When is a chatbot enough?
When the questions repeat and the answers do not depend on a particular customer: opening hours, a returns policy, directions. There is no need to connect that to the ERP.
When do you need an agent?
- When the answer depends on the data of a customer, an order or an item in Priority.
- When the request needs an action: a quote, scheduling, opening a service call.
- When you need to know later who did what.
An agent for Priority works through an MCP server. It calls tools that read from Priority, and in a conversation, every write is shown for approval first. Each user's permissions decide what it sees.
Two common mistakes
- A chatbot that tries to answer ERP questions from old documents: the answer sounds confident, and it is wrong.
- A bot that writes to the ERP with no approval and no log: nobody knows what changed or why.
Common questions
- What is the difference between a chatbot and an AI agent?
- A chatbot answers from what it was given in advance, and the conversation ends with an answer. An AI agent takes a goal, reads current data from Priority, prepares the work and records it in the system, and a person approves before anything is recorded.
- Can a chatbot get access to Priority?
- Any client that supports MCP can connect to MCP for Priority, and then it answers from the data within the user's permissions. Once it reads data and acts, it is already working like an agent.
- Can an AI agent make mistakes?
- Yes. That is why, in a conversation, every write to Priority is shown for approval first, before an update the server checks nobody changed the record since the preview, and every tool call is written to an audit log.
- What does a chatbot cost, and what does an AI agent cost?
- We don't quote for a website chatbot, because it is not what we sell. An AI agent has no single price list, because most of the work is the connection to your systems and the business rules. The technical foundation, MCP for Priority, has public prices on its product page, and the rest of the scope is defined together.
